Author’s Note: I purchased these Under Armour BoxerJock 6-inch boxer briefs using my own money. Under Armour is not affiliated with nor sponsoring this post at all.

Under Armour Boxerjocks (boxer briefs) are very popular, especially amongst guys who love Under Armour clothing. But I am not an athlete nor a jock, not even a weekend warrior! Yes, I love working out at the gym, but I am not drinking protein shakes day and night. I love my Burger King just as much as I love working out.

On a recent trip to Arizona, we stopped by the Anthem Outlets to stock up on cheap clothing. While the Anthem Outlets are in a sad state of affairs, the Under Armour store is still there. Not only did I discover that Under Armour clothing is awesome, but I also discovered that their underwear is ideal for all guys—not just athletes!

In this blog post, I will describe my experiences wearing Under Armour’s ubiquitous boxer briefs – their 6-inch Original BoxerJocks – and why all guys can benefit from wearing them, even if you aren’t an athlete.

Trying On the Under Armour BoxerJock 6-inch Boxer Briefs

I wore these BoxerJocks for a couple of days and loved every minute of them. Since then, I have put these BoxerJocks in my regular underwear rotation because they are fantastic.

First, I am sure many guys agree that if you notice your underwear, you aren’t wearing the right underwear. Noticing your underwear means something is wrong, uncomfortable, or off. But these BoxerJocks were the opposite – I didn’t notice them at all.

The material is super smooth and silky, even though it is only 10% Elastane/Spandex (10% is my minimum for men’s athletic underwear). It stretched well and never felt restricting. I also felt the breathability was relatively high, despite being polyester-based. Some polyester-based underwear can be too thick and reduce air flow, but I didn’t feel that these BoxerJocks did that. I’d still prefer wearing bamboo or modal underwear as my everyday underwear, but I also wouldn’t mind wearing these BoxerJocks everyday either.

Second, I didn’t have any of the other problems with men’s underwear that can occur. For example, I wrote a whole blog article about how to prevent boxer briefs riding up your legs. But I didn’t have that issue with these 6-inch BoxerJocks. However, if you have thicker thighs or are prone to riding up, I’d recommend getting the 9-inch BoxerJocks instead. With an extra three inches of fabric on your legs, the leg band will sit below the thickest part of your thighs and provide resistance to riding up.

In addition, I thought the pouch was quite comfortable. Being athletic underwear, I was expecting the pouch to be more restrictive than it is. But it was quite roomy, although not as roomy as my Puma Performance Boxer Briefs if you happen to be quite large. In fact, if you are looking for more support, I’d recommend going with another boxer brief, especially a light or semi-compression boxer brief. These BoxerJocks are regular underwear, not compression shorts.

After the initial wear, I washed these boxer briefs in cold water and air dried them. I do this with most of my underwear to reduce wear and tear and keep them looking and feeling fresh. I want to bring this up because I know most guys just throw their underwear in with the rest of their clothes and blast them with heat. While it won’t damage your underwear right away – for most men’s underwear, at least – it will greatly increase wear and tear and won’t last as long.

In the months since my initial test, I have continued to wear these BoxerJocks and have loved them. They have held up well and continue to provide an excellent underwear experience.

Details of the Under Armour BoxerJock 6-inch Boxer Briefs

Before getting to the specifics, pay attention to the type of BoxerJock you purchase. For polyester-based BoxerJocks, Under Armour sells the original BoxerJock – which is what I bought – and the new Tech BoxerJock. The fabric is the same. The primary difference is that the Tech BoxerJock doesn’t have butt seams, whereas the original BoxerJock does. If you don’t like boxer briefs with butt seams – and a lot have these seams – then get the Tech BoxerJock.

You can clearly see the seam running along my butt on the left. This seam is eliminated in the Tech BoxerJock series.

Length and Silhouettes

The BoxerJocks I bought are six inches, a very standard length for men’s boxer briefs. Under Armour also sells three-inch and nine-inch BoxerJocks too. The 3″ BoxerJocks are ideal for everyday wear for guys who love shorter styles. The 9″ BoxerJocks are best for men who need extra leg protection against chafing (skin irritation). Men who have thicker thighs and suffer from boxer briefs riding up may also appreciate the 9″ version as the leg bands sit under the thigh, helping prevent ride-up. Price

I bought mine at an outlet store, so it was cheaper than usual. In general, expect to pay $15-20 per pair. You can buy three-packs on Amazon for less than $15/pair, which is ideal pricing. I say $15-20 per pair is the sweet spot of men’s underwear, so getting BoxerJocks for this price range or cheaper is fantastic. If you live near an Under Armour outlet store or a discount store like Ross or Marshalls, you may want to check pricing in the store.

Colors and Patterns

I am a visual person, and I love having underwear in a variety of colors and patterns. Under Armour does not let me down! You can buy BoxerJocks in many colors, from blacks and grays to yellows and teals. You can mix and match so you can wear underwear that matches your mood for that day! Under Armour also sells some patterned underwear – such as the camouflage pair I purchased – but patterns are far more limited.

Material and Fabric

Under Armour BoxerJock 6-inch boxer briefs are 90% Polyester and 10% Elastane/Spandex. They feel silky and smooth, like most athletic underwear. My minimum Elastane/Spandex content for athletic underwear is 10%, and these BoxerJocks match that criteria. These boxer briefs felt amazing the entire time. In fact, most of the time I didn’t even feel like I was wearing underwear, which is awesome.

If you are looking for soft underwear for everyday wear, you’ll want to stick with bamboo and modal underwear instead. For example, these David Archy bamboo boxer briefs or these Jockey modal boxer briefs are better for non-sweaty situations. But that doesn’t mean you can’t wear these BoxerJocks as your normal underwear – they are breathable and comfy!

I had no problem working in my Under Armour BoxerJocks!

Note that Under Armour also sells cotton BoxerJocks. These are not the same as the polyester-based BoxerJocks I have. If you like cotton, then try bamboo and modal, as I wrote above. You should love bamboo and modal fabric!

Flys

BoxerJocks come with a standard vertical fly, which works as expected.

Ball Pouch

BoxerJocks have a standard, non-separated ball pouch. The pouch is extremely comfortable. However, it is made of a slightly different material than the rest of the boxer briefs. Instead of smooth fabric, the pouch is made of smooth mesh fabric. The mesh is for greater airflow, although I didn’t notice any difference. Nonetheless, the pouch is fantastic.

You can see in this embarrassing photo of me flexing that the pouch has vertical lines on it showing the mesh fabric.

If you need more support, you’ll want to buy underwear with a snuggier pouch. Saxx’s Kinetic Light Compression boxer briefs feature the BallPark PRO pouch, which provides a lot of support. You can see more details here.

Waistband

The waistband is pretty typical of men’s underwear, nothing special. It was comfortable, but not overly soft. The width is around 1.5″, which is pretty standard as well. The waistband has the bold Under Armour logo all across it, so if you aren’t into logos, Under Armour is the wrong brand for you.

Multipacks

Under Armour sells both individual pairs and multipacks both online, via Amazon, and in stores. The multipacks offer a slightly better deal than the individual pairs, but not by much. Usually the multipacks come in two or three-pair packages, so they aren’t breaking the budget if you buy them.

Design Country

Under Armour is based in the United States, despite their British spelling. (You can read why Armour has a ‘u’ in it in this article.)

My Recommendation

I love these Under Armour BoxerJock 6-inch boxer briefs. They are super comfortable, and I didn’t even think about having them on, which is what you want in men’s underwear. I love that they come in 3-inch, 6-inch, and 9-inch versions so guys can get the best length for themselves. The wide range of colors and select patterns means you don’t have to settle for a boring underwear collection. Finally, the ball pouch was comfortable, although if you need a lot of support, you’ll want to look elsewhere.
